Jane Ashley Women's Centre

The very successful Jane Ashley Unit (founded in 1996, due to the generosity of the Ashley family) is now in the new Jane Ashley Women's Centre on the Churchill Hospital| site. This provides a base for expanded services.

The Centre has a significant reputation for supporting women with breast cancer. This ethos is apparent in the 20 bed ward which combines the care of women with breast| and gynaecological| cancer.

Oxford was approved as the Thames Valley Regional Centre for gynaecological cancer in 2005. It caters for a population of almost a million women, taking patients from within and outside the Thames Valley Cancer Network area. The service provides all the surgical needs for women with gynaecological cancer, including laparoscopic and fertility-preserving surgery. The Centre is involved in research and clinical trials and is a base for training. All patients have access to the Jane Ashley terrace for quiet and relaxation.
