Horton Library and Information Service

The Horton Library and Information Service supports  staff with healthcare practice, health service management, education, research, lifelong learning and continuing professional development.

The library provides books and journals on all aspects of healthcare and health management.

We also have quiet study areas and computers with full Microsoft Office applications and internet access.

Staffed opening times are 9.00 am - 5.00 pm Monday to Friday, excluding bank holidays.

Out-of-hours access is also available for certain categories of users on application to the library staff.

Access to NHS core content and regional electronic resources (by Athens password)

All NHS staff are advised to register for an Athens password| to access all electronic resources purchased nationally and regionally.

For e-journals, e-books and databases, go to www.library.nhs.uk|, log in via Athens and click on 'books, journals and databases'.

We are also part of a very large regional library network with access to other library collections via our document delivery service.

Who can use the library?

• Oxford Radcliffe Hospitals employees
• NHS employees in South Central SHA
• GPs
• practice staff
• pharmacists
• NHS opticians
• NHS dentists
• students on placement
  Library charter for placement students (pdf)
• staff working in partnership with the NHS including hospice staff.

The library also has a contract with the Oxfordshire PCT to provide a service to OPCT staff. Staff employed by private hospitals and treatment centres and patients and the public may have reference rights.

The Horton Library and Information Service is situated on the first floor of the Terence Mortimer Postgraduate Centre |at the Horton General Hospital in Banbury.
