Horton Library terms and conditions
ALL NHS staff and health care students working or studying within trusts or health authorities within the NHS South Central SHA and those organisations which have a service level agreement with the library are entitled to use the library, but must complete a library registration form.
Library staff will provide a courteous service and timely response to all enquiries. Comments, suggestions or complaints will be dealt with in an appropriate manner, taking into account Trust policy.
A SWIMS library card will be issued to each individual for their sole use. The card can be used in any South Central or South West regional NHS library, so please keep it safely. A charge may be made for lost cards. The library should be notified of any change of name or address.
Members can borrow up to eight items for an initial period of four weeks except in the case of some short loan items. Items can be renewed for a further two periods unless wanted by another user. Renewals can be made by phone or email, or by logging in under the user number on the library catalogue.
Overdue notices will be sent out at regular intervals to the member's email address as a matter of courtesy. Failure to receive an overdue notice does not negate any sanctions or charges incurred. Fines for overdue books are charged at 10p per item per day.
Each member is responsible for all items issued to him/her until the loan has been removed from their record by library staff. If the item is not returned after three overdue notices, the member will be charged for the placement cost plus a small administrative fee. This may be arranged through payroll.
In the event of items not being returned, your information may be shared with the Trust, institution or academic body that entitles you to use the library, in order to retrieve items.
Members are asked to return items immediately if requested to do so by library staff.
Members must comply with the copyright law, NHS copyright licence and any restrictions imposed by manufacturers'/publishers' licences in the use of library property.
Members are requested to comply with Trust policy in the use of the computers in the library.
Unauthorised removal or vandalism of library property will not be tolerated. The Trust will take action against anyone found abusing the library resources, and penalties will be imposed on those who do not adhere to the library regulations.
Any member of library staff can enforce library regulations. The use of the library is at the Manager's discretion and in certain circumstances may be withdrawn.
The library accepts no responsibility for personal possessions brought into the library.
Every effort is made to make sure information held in the library is accurate and up-to-date. However, the library cannot be held responsible for the accuracy and timeliness of any information gathered from printed or electronic resources. No responsibility is accepted for any actions taken on the basis of information provided.
Please make sure that noise levels are kept to a minimum and be aware of other library users. Any issues with noise disturbance should be brought to the attention of library staff. Mobile phones should be switched to silent and answered outside of the library.
Library users must leave immediately on hearing the continuous fire alarm, or when requested to do so by library staff.
Access to the library outside staffed hours must be pre-arranged with library staff.
