Health Care libraries

All staff working within the Oxford Radcliffe Hospitals NHS Trust have free access to high-quality library services in Oxford and Banbury.

Our services support healthcare practice, management, education, research, lifelong learning and continuing professional development.

We provide:

  • 24 hour access, 7 days a week
  • clinical enquiry services
  • timetabled and one-to-one training sessions
  • study space, large and in-depth collections of books and journals
  • access to the internet and to a large number of online databases and journals
  • computer use for word processing and other applications
  • a range of outreach and current awareness services.

The Health Care Libraries comprise:

  • the Cairns Library in the John Radcliffe Hospital
  • the Knowledge Centre| at the Old Road Campus (next to the Churchill Hospital)
  • the Horton General Hospital Library and Information Service.

The Knowledge Centre

In early 2008 the Health Care Libraries opened a new Knowledge Centre to provide better support for the wide range of staff and services involved in patient care and research in the Churchill Hospital and Old Road Campus. The Knowledge Centre has replaced our libraries in the Churchill Hospital and Rosemary Rue Building.

Based by the main entrance of the new green research building on Roosevelt Drive, the Knowledge Centre is open to all who are eligible for Health Care Libraries membership and will complement and support the work of our Outreach Librarians.
