The Trust has a range of careers advice and information, the majority of which can be accessed by training-grade doctors  and trust-grade doctors.

Planning for specialty training

In order to help foundation doctors choose the right specialty for specialty training, all doctors will be offered a careers workshop in years 1 and 2.

The Education Centres also have careers and interview skills books which can be borrowed. Titles include:

  • An insider's guide to medical specialties
  • Finding Square Holes
  • Get through medical interview
  • How to get the job you love
  • How to succeed at medical interview
  • Postgraduate medical interviews
  • Medical interviews
  • Medical interviews and professional development
  • The medical job interview
  • The medical student career handbook
  • The roads to success
  • Role play for the GP St/GP VTS selection centre
  • So you want to be a brain surgeon?
  • Survival guide to the GP ST/GP VTS selection centre

Doctors have access to Sci59, which is an online career selection tool.  It takes only 20 minutes to complete and provides users with a wealth of information on specialties that meet their mix of skills, attributes and aspirations.
