Genetics Laboratories
The Oxford Genetics Laboratories comprise two closely integrated laboratories, the Molecular Genetics Laboratory| and the Cytogenetics Laboratory|.
Molecular geneticists investigate specific diseases at the gene level by analysing the DNA. Cytogeneticists use a full spectrum of cytogenetic and molecular cytogenetic investigations to screen for constitutional and acquired chromosome abnormalities.
The laboratories offer a regional service and test patients from Oxfordshire, Berkshire, Buckinghamshire and parts of Northamptonshire and Wiltshire. Both laboratories work in close collaboration with clinicians from a range of specialties including clinical genetics, paediatrics, obstetrics, haematology and neurology.
The Molecular Genetics Laboratory| also provides a national and international service for a number of specialist disease areas.
