Gastroenterology

Gastroenterology covers diseases of the liver, pancreas and the gastrointestinal tract and has a large component of chronic disease, much of which requires long term monitoring and active treatment.

Gastroenterology doctors specialise in the investigation and treatment of conditions such as:

  • gastritis
    inflammation of the stomach, especially of the mucous membrane
  • ulcers
  • problems of absorption
  • ulcerative colitis
  • Crohn's disease
  • cancer screening
  • cancer treatment.

The unit has a reputation for the clinical care / management of:
