The microscopic examination and pathological diagnosis of tissue and cell specimens taken from patients a powerful diagnostic tool. It is done in the laboratory in partnership with laboratory scientists and doctors in other clinical specialties. Our cellular pathologists have  expert knowledge of both the pathological and clinical aspects of disease.

The expansion of knowledge and specialist techniques in this area have led to increasing specialisation of pathologists beyond the subspecialties of neuropathology and haematology.
