The Russell Cairns Unit is part of the Clinical Psychology services within the Trsut, based at the John Radcliffe Hospital.
It includes clinical neuropsychology, clinical health and paediatric psychology services.
The service is for adults and children of all ages. There are three sub-specialties within the Russell Cairns Unit:
Adult neuropsychology
Adults are referred because they have difficulties due to brain injury (head injury, stroke or tumour) or because they have an illness that involves the brain / central nervous system (e.g. epilepsy, Alzheimer's or Parkinson's disease), or because there are concerns about their memory which may have a neurological cause.
We assess patients before and after neurosurgery, or to help assess suitability for neurosurgery. Patients are referred from the following services.
Child neuropsychology
Children are referred because they have difficulties due to brain injury (head injury, stroke or tumour), or because they have an illness that involves the brain / central nervous system (e.g. epilepsy).
