Theatres, Anaesthetics and Critical Care

The Theatres, Anaesthetics and Critical Care Directorate provides support to all surgical specialties, both elective and emergencies, in all the hospitals in the Oxford Radcliffe Hospitals NHS Trust.

The Directorate also manages:

  • the provision of anaesthetics and post-operative acute pain services across the Trust
  • many of the intensive care units and beds in the Trust
  • the Pain Management Service
  • the Sterile Supplies Service, which supplies, cleans and decontaminates surgical instruments for all surgical procedures
  • the Resuscitation Service, which provides all levels of life-support training, supports the crash teams, facilitates the audit of cardiac arrest events and ensures the coordination of equipment, notably defibrillators.
