Clinical Governance

Clinical Governance describes the systems in place to make sure that the Oxford Radcliffe Hospitals NHS Trust provides high quality, safe care, and that staff are properly supported.

Clinical Governance is co-ordinated by the  Safety, Quality and Risk Department, which works closely with all the clinical and non-clinical areas across the Trust.

Standards are set down in:

• regulations from the Care Quality Commission and National Service Frameworks
• guidance published by the  Department of Health and the National Institute for Health and Clinical Excellence (NICE)

The Safety, Quality and Risk Department incorporates:

• legal services

• clinical risk management

• health and safety

• patient information

• patient comments and complaints

• clinical audit and effectiveness.

The department reports to the Medical Director and Director of Nursing and Clinical Leadership.
