Fund for Children at the ORH
Over 65,000 children are treated in Oxford Radcliffe Hospitals NHS Trust facilities every year. Play areas, state-of-the art medical equipment, parent beds and classrooms in the Children's Hospital are just a few of the wonderful examples of how that care can be enhanced by charitable giving. Gifts to the Fund for Children continue to support facilities and equipment to treat, distract and calm our young patients.

Community Atrium Art Project: Michael Craig-Martin's KIDS
World-renowned artist, Michael Craig-Martin|, has completed a five-storey painting entitled 'KIDS' for the community atrium connecting the Children's Hospital and West Wing, entirely funded by charitable money. It has taken a month to install, but the scaffolding has now been taken down, so why not be one of the first to have a look and enjoy a coffee at the Atrium Café?

Children's Hospital supporter, Felicity Waley-Cohen, lost her son, Thomas, to cancer five years ago and has been instrumental in making this project possible. She said:
'This work of art is going to transform the atrium and more importantly the lives of all those children who look out onto it, sometimes for weeks or even months at a time. It will make the environment as wonderful as the wards and care at the Children's Hospital.'
This project is funded entirely from gifts raised specifically for it, from the Waley-Cohen family and others interested in art, with the support of the artist, as well as corporate partners such as those listed at the end of the video below.
The Hospital School has been running an art education programme inspired by Craig-Martin's work, sponsored by Sophie's Campaign for the Children's Ward for Interesting Things to Do (SCCWID)|.
One young patient explains what the project and the artwork means to her:
'Having lots of interesting things to do is really important for children like me who have to spend a lot of time in hospital. The art has been great, because it has taken my mind off the pain after my operation. I can't wait to see the finished big painting as it can be a bit boring looking out of a window onto a plain wall.'
13 year old Lily.

Charitable support will continue to provide vital enhancements in care and comfort for the children and their families. For example, you can support:
-
the Fund for Children, which will support future priorities throughout children's services, such as upgrading equipment or improving facilities
-
a specific appeal designed to raise money towards a specific goal, such as a piece of equipment
-
a ward or department fund that provides more targeted support for an area you find of particular interest.
However large or small your gift, all donations are greatly appreciated and carefully spent. You can donate online or contact us.
