Dr Colin Reeves has been reappointed to serve a further term on the Board of Directors of the Oxford Radcliffe Hospitals as a Non-executive Director. He has also been appointed as Vice-Chairman of the Trust.

Dr Reeves is a self-employed healthcare consultant. He has previously held positions including national Director of Finance and Performance for the NHS in England and Director of Finance for North West Thames Regional Health Authority. His first degree was in Economics at Cambridge University, followed by an MSc in Finance and a PhD in Monetary Economics from the University College of North Wales. He is a fully qualified accountant. Dr Reeves is Honorary Treasurer of the brain injury charity Headway. He was awarded a CBE in 1999 for services to the NHS.

Welcoming the reappointment, Oxford Radcliffe Hospitals Chairman Dame Fiona Caldicott, said: "It is a pleasure to be able to continue to work with Colin. Over the years, he has provided a wealth of insight to help the Oxford Radcliffe Hospitals, one of the largest acute trusts in the country, to meet its targets and maintain its quality. It is vital that the Board of Directors is fit to manage this business, both now and in the future, as we pursue our applications to become a Foundation Trust and an Academic Health Science Centre. Colin is extremely experienced in NHS Finances, which will be of central importance as we adapt to the challenging economic outlook. I am glad that Colin will continue to add his valuable contribution to the Board."

The appointment has been made by the Appointments Commission's Health and Social Care Appointments Committee in accordance with the Commission for Public Appointments Code of Practice and is effective for four years, from 26 May 2009 until May 2013. Dr Reeves will receive remuneration of £6,096 a year.

All Non-executive appointments are made on merit and political activity plays no part in the selection process. However, in accordance with the original Nolan recommendations, there is a requirement for appointees' political activity to be made public. Dr Reeves has not declared any political activity in the last five years and has not held any ministerial appointments.
