The Bafta award-winning satirist will be on hand throughout the black-tie event at Keble College, to add his wit to the evening's proceedings.

He will be joined by guest speaker Chris Patten (Lord Patten of Barnes) – who will talk about his political highlights in the UK and Hong Kong.

The event, on Friday 2 October, includes a drinks reception, four-course meal with wine and 'money can't buy' auction, all within the historic Keble College Dining Hall. It is raising funds to buy additional equipment and facilities for the Oxford Heart Centre which will treat 30,000 people a year people from the South and beyond.

Rory Bremner said: "Heart disease affects so many people in this country, of all ages and all backgrounds, so I am delighted to be able to support this event for what promises to be a fantastic evening".

Head of Major Gifts at ORH Charitable Funds, Andrew House said: "We are thrilled that Rory Bremer and Lord Patten are able to join us in celebrating the opening of this important new Centre for Heart patients. This event will be great fun – but more importantly will hopefully raise significant sums for the Heart Centre Campaign allowing us to buy additional equipment that goes way beyond the NHS standard."

Previous black-tie dinners organised by the hospital fundraising team have attracted guests including Jeffrey Archer, Lawrence Dallaglio, Baroness PD James and Sir Matthew Pinsent and have raised up to £50,000 for hospital causes.

A few tickets are still available for this exclusive event costing £100 to £120 per person. Call Anu Basra 01865 743447 to find out more.
