The Oxfordshire Chlamydia Screening Project is encouraging more young people to get tested for Chlamydia by offering free, confidential self-test packs.

One in 14 young people under 25 are already infected with Chlamydia. As Chlamydia is usually invisible the only way to find out if it's you is to say yes to the test!

Visit www.sayyestothetest.com| for more information and to request a free self-test pack.

Free self-test packs are also available in most GP surgeries, Contraception & Sexual Health (C&SH) clinics, antenatal clinics and selected pharmacies throughout Oxfordshire. Screening is also available in the colleges and universities.

Leon Maciocia, Chlamydia Screening Coordinator, based at the Churchill Hospital said, "Many young people are too shy to talk about their sexual health. But as Chlamydia has no symptoms, you or your partner could be infected without knowing. If you have Chlamydia and it’s not treated, the infection can lead to long-term health problems, including chronic pain and not being able to have children later in life."

"That's why anybody under 25 is being offered a free and confidential Chlamydia test. The test is really quick and completely painless (you do the test yourself – at home if you request a postal test) and if you do find out you've got Chlamydia, it's simple to treat with antibiotics."

If you are 25 or over, have symptoms or are worried about your sexual health, you can contact the Genitourinary Medicine (GUM)| clinics in Oxford (01865 231231) or Banbury (01295 819181). Visit www.sexualhealthoxfordshire.nhs.uk| for more information.
