Air transfers to Oxford with AirMed

Contact|

Air Medical Ltd (AirMed) is the largest fixed-wing air ambulance company in the UK. It owns eight aircraft, including a Learjet 35A, and operates out of Oxford Kidlington airport, with excellent access to all areas of Europe. AirMed is fully equipped with all the necessary intensive care unit (ICU) equipment and employs highly qualified specialist doctors and nurses.

Medical provision

Staff

AirMed's Medical Director, Dr Jon Warwick, is a consultant anaesthetist with the Nuffield Department of Anaesthetics| in the Oxford Radcliffe Hospitals. All their medical staff are sourced from this world-renowned teaching Trust. In most cases the doctors used are anaesthetists with at least three years full-time experience in the field. Anaesthetists have the unique skills necessary for the safe transfer of intensive care patients. Specialists in cardiology, emergency medicine or trauma may also be provided where appropriate. All the staff nurses used are trained in advance life support (ALS) and in delivering care within the aircraft environment.

Equipment

AirMed has comprehensive monitoring and life-support equipment to meet the needs of both high-dependency and routine intensive care patients.
