Private maternity care services are provided within the Women's Centre at the John Radcliffe Hospital. Last year nearly 6,000 women had babies in this unit, which has an international reputation for its clinical expertise.
We offer the complete range of maternity healthcare services – our doctors, midwives and other clinical staff have expertise in supporting women through high risk and complex pregnancies, as well as through normal births.
Your consultant will provide a complete package of private maternity care that includes antenatal, intrapartum and postnatal care. Your consultant will organise all booking arrangements, including arranging anaesthetic and other clinical support, and will also undertake to be present at the birth of your baby.
You will be seen by the physiotherapist to provide advice on exercises that will assist you following the birth of your baby, and a paediatrician will examine your baby before you both go home.

Dr Lucy Mackillop| is one of only four obstetric physicians in the country providing advice and support for women with any pre-existing medical condition in pregnancy.

Dr Mackillop also provides advice for women with a history of a medical complication in pregnancy (for example pre-eclampsia, HELLP or obstetric cholestasis) and advises on the risk of this happening in the next pregnancy.
