What is an amenity bed or amenity room?
From the first days of the National Heatlth Service hospitals have included 'amenity beds', which are typically side rooms fitted more comfortably than standard facilities, and for which a fee is charged.
This type of service differs from private treatment in that no professional fee is paid to the specialist, and all aspects of the clincial service provided are the same as those for NHS patients.
