How much will a private consultation cost?
When you book your consultation we will tell you the consultation fee for the specialist you are seeing. This fee is normally charged direct to you by the consultant. As a guide, you should expect to pay between £80 and £150. There may also be an additional hospital charge, particularly if you need to have any tests as part of your consultation.
You may want to have more than one consultation before making a decision about surgery. This is perfectly understandable and some consultants include the option for a second consultation at no extra charge. Please check this with your consultant.
Your consultation is an important process performed to diagnose your condition and recommend the correct options for treatment. Such an important process should be performed by the most appropriate highly trained and experienced specialist.
If you have private medical insurance (PMI), check with your insurer about cover for outpatient consultations.
Some cosmetic surgery organisations do not charge for the initial consultation. This is because the cost of this is included in the future operation charge, and indeed the consultation may not even be with the specialist surgeon. Our specialists prefer that any decison you reach is independent of any operation you may, or may not, decide to have.
